Off to Wisconsin

After being home for about 5 days, we found out that we were headed off to Oshkosh, WI. It was nice to be home but good to get back out and about. We were able to reserve a room at a hotel in Oshkosh for about 10 days. We probably wouldn't be at that hotel long. We needed a room with a kitchenette and that hotel didn't offer that. We arrived at the hotel about 2 hours later than planned. That put us there around 11 p.m. Oshkosh time and 12 midnight our time. We walked into the room only to find out that it hadn't been cleaned that day. Hubby has to get up and be at work at 5 a.m. and we haven't even unloaded the vehicle. While Hubby went out to start unloading the vehicle and Uhaul I went to the front desk to get the room taken care of. We were finally able to get to a room, but never was able to relax. Yes, poor girl at the front desk. She was going to put us in a room on the second floor, with no elevator. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, with a normal guest. However, we don't pack like your normal guests. We pack in totes. When you are going to be gone for a couple of months (we were planning for 3-4) you don't bother with suitcases. Anyway, it was nice of the front desk girl, she offered to help us carry everything up the stairs, until she found out we pack in totes for long stays. It was kind of funny watching her hurry to find an available room on the first floor. Anyway, got that taken care of.

The next day after Hubby got back from work, we were loading up again to head up north about another 4 hours to visit with Hubby's dad. We were all looking forward to the visit. When we arrived, around 11:30 p.m., the kids were wanting to hit the beach across from Grandpa's house. Unfortunately for them, they had to wait until morning. We spent some time at the beach in the morning and then headed off to visit more family. It was a wonderful visit!

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped by Lambeau Field. With Hubby being a MAJOR Packer fan and Green Bay being on our way back to Oshkosh, we knew it would happen. That's ok, it's cool that we are so close. Oshkosh is only about a hour away from Green Bay and it's football season! It was cool. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot and it smelled wonderful, like a cookout. I asked a lady that had just closed her car door if she knew what was going on. She said her family was having a family cookout. Now, the first thought going through my mind was, she had a HUGE family! She then went on to tell me that it was the Packer family cookout. Turns out she was there with 'Finley'. So that was cool to learn that the Packer's hosted a 'family' cookout. To a woman (me), that shows that they are a bit more than just a football team. Now, being a Favre fan, it made me wonder what it was like without the Favre family there. Honestly, there has to be an empty feeling. It would just be weird. It's weird watching a Packer game without Favre being the leader of the team. I just stopped watching them. Being in the area, it's great to know that the Wisconsin people and businesses still back Favre. You don't believe me? Local businesses are selling Favre Jets jerseys! How cool is that?!
Anyway, off of that subject. While we were visiting Hubby's dad, I called another hotel in the Oshkosh area about renting one of their rooms. They had a full kitchenette. The wonderful lady on the phone told me of a new hotel opening up soon that would fit us better. Reading between the lines, they didn't have enough beds to fit our family. So, she called the new hotel and actually made the reservations for us! That was so nice of her. Unfortunately this meant that we would be at the 'bad' hotel for our full 10 day reservation. We could do it. It was hard because of the not so friendly housekeepers and weird guests that were there. But we figured we would have all of that wherever we went. Can't say that it was the cleanest of places, but it was an older hotel. However, when you find men's underwear, broken beer bottle glass and used (more than 1 and in different areas) used band-aids. Again, you'll have these weird situations everywhere you go, right? "L" told the front desk lady, she took care of it--herself.

We were so excited to get the call from the new hotel!! Hubby was at work, but I wasn't waiting! We loaded up and headed over. It was WONDERFUL!!! Friendly staff, clean and clean smelling hotel (no old stale cigarette and mildew smell!!)! It was wonderful! Did I mention that already? I can't mention it enough!

It's a wonderful feeling to be at 'home'. We have lots of space now. Hopefully "E" will learn to crawl, now that I allow him on the floor. We can actually walk in our bare feet here! It's just like being at home, in a way.
