We normally don't do much outside our hotel room until after 11 in the morning. That gives housekeeping a chance to come by and grab our trash and towels and it's check-out time, so hallway/elevator traffic should be gone. That also means that the pool should be open and empty. Most of the time during the week it's empty. We have only been swimming with someone else in the pool area maybe 2 other times. The rest of the time we've had the pools to ourselves. The fitness room is usually available too, that's nice. During the week, that's P.E. for the children. Exercise in the fitness room and then go swim. Hubby and I do it too. We are working on that being our evening routine. Unless we have plans to go out or go grocery shopping. They can swim anytime as long as t
hey have all their schoolwork done.
We treat the hotel like it's our home. The children can do their schoolwork just about anywhere. They even get really irritated if someone trashes the hotel. Last week we went into the fitness room for our regular exercise time and walked into candy wrappers and popcorn all over the floor. I picked them up and we went on about our business. They have also learned from staying in hotels, why we tell them no running in the halls and to be quiet while in the halls. In fact, they are finding out this weekend why we stress that.
A lot of things are different from being at home home. Like having an indoor pool at our fingertips (that someone else takes care of), having breakfast and clean-up done for us, having our bed sheets changed for us, and things. (You know, the things that have to be done but you wish there was a little fairy following behind you doing them.) Grocery shopping is interesting too. Well, the shopping itself isn't, it's the part where you try to carry everything up to the room, on the 4th floor, in one trip. We have learned to take advanta
ge of the luggage cart. We put bags in tubs/containers and use the luggage cart. Without that, it would be a pain. I also don't do the shopping on my own. It makes it so much easier when Hubby and I do it together, and it makes it fun. Don't ask him about that though, I'm happy thinking that.
I do attempt to keep up with the chores like it's home as well. I asked for a vacuum so that I could do it myself whenever I wanted or well, whenever it needs it. And we dust and mop as much as it needs it. "L" is wonderful at cleaning the room whenever it needs it.

Love this post! From the PE at the weight room and pool to the only doing 2 loads of laundry! OH, and I HATE being in an elevator with other people. The noises don't bother me, its the people. Isn't that awful?
Yes, the people tend to irritate me also, and that day was no exception. It was completely my mood though that made it that way. Never realized there were so many 'do it for me' people out there. I mean, we all knew they were out there, but didn't know they traveled in numbers. You would think not being around people on a regular basis would make us want to get out and socialize with people. Quite the opposite.
