We were bored last Sunday. We like to plan our Sunday's a couple of days in advance. We like to go to new places before returning to places that we have already been. Well, last week we couldn't really figure out what we wanted to do. There is a lot still to do. We want to go to a cheese factory (we are in Wisconsin), a history museum, ice skating at the YMCA and then the tour of Lambeau Field and visiting the Hall of Fame. So we have plenty left to do, seems like I'm forgetting a few things too. We are also planning for visitors. Next weekend we have a visitor coming, then two weeks after that we could have a couple more visitors if we are still here. But last Sunday was such a beautiful day, we decided to just go for a ride (after the Packer game, of course). We
went out and about and came across High Cliff State Park. We decided to go ahead and check it out. When we pulled up we were just going to get out and walk around a bit. Once we went to a trail, we changed our mind. It was so beautiful! It was a bummer, I didn't wear the most appropriate shoes, flip flops. But it was too beautiful not to enjoy it. "E" was in heaven, he loves trees! He was so excited to be eye level with a leaf, he started talking and squealing. It was so cute! Of course, my curious adventurers had to climb on every rock and go down anything that looked even similar to steps. That is one thing I hope they don't ever lose, the love for adventure.
After the hiking and scenic adventure, we went down to the beach area. It was nice, but not as nice as the view we had when we were hiking. If it were warmer out, I wouldn't have let the children swim in this beach. But the sky along the water was picture perfect. I forgot to mention that I was in tears because I had forgotten my camera at the hotel. Can't tell you how many times I wanted to kick myself for that one. So all of these picture perfect moments had to be taken with my phone camera.
We will be going back hopefully soon while it's so colorful.
It's times like these with nature and the children playing that you take a moment to breathe. And then you thank God. . . . for everything.
