H4 Is Doing Fabulous!

A 'quick' update: Just wanted to let you know, H4 woke up from his long morning nap with a beautiful, sweet smile. It was the sweetest thing. He was on a blanket on the floor in our family room. I wondered why daddy didn't put him in his bed but I'm so glad that he didn't. I was able to watch him breath as he was napping. It was a safe procedure but we haven't had to have any of our children go through anything like this. Plus, he was put to sleep, I didn't know how he would react. I just felt better staying close to him and being able to watch him breath.

It was the sweetest thing though. He sat up. Looked at me and gave me the biggest smile. It was wonderful! I was prepared for him to be cranky for most of the day. The doctor warned us that he probably would be because of the anesthesia. He was right back to his wonderful self right away! I am very thankful!

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. H4 is doing great! Well, from what we can tell, hehe, he's sleeping. He went straight to sleep when we put him in his car seat to come home. We have been home for about a hour now. I do have to say, the staff at the surgery center was awesome! They were friendly, caring and just plain wonderful. That made things flow so smoothly.

I am so thankful that HumV was able to go with us, I can't tell you how thankful I am. See, we had planned for him to be at class this week, near Chicago. And it just so happens that the plans got changed (Do ya like the way I said 'just SO happens').

H4 had quite the time before he was taken back. We were able to stay with him until the nurse carried him off. All of us were there, HumV and I and H1, 2 & 3. They were all able to see the 'behind the scenes' rooms. It looked very similar to an Emergency Room, they are ALL aware of what that looks like.

He went with the nurse and didn't cry at all. It was like he was going for a walk with someone. He was able to take his blanket with him so that helped too. He did great! The procedure didn't take long at all. The doctor came out to let us know how well it went. We had to wait about 10 minutes before we could go back and be with him. They wanted to make sure he was fully awake. They said that some children twitch from the anesthesia and it tends to freak parents out a bit when they see that. I reworded that just for fun. When we walked into his recovery room he was sitting with a nurse in a rocking chair and drinking his bottle. It didn't look like he was fully awake and out la-la land. It was weird because when he finished his normal 8 ounce bottle, he wanted more. That was odd. He ended up drinking 12 ounces!!! He must have been extremely hungry! He hadn't been able to eat anything since last night, he had his last bottle around 8.

H1, H2 and H3 did awesome too. For having to get up around 5:45 this morning (we told them to sleep in their clothes) and be ready to go, they did fabulous! I can't thank them enough for that. H3 did have a hard time keeping his eyes open.
H4 is continuing to sleep and all the other children are playing upstairs. This morning turned out better than I could have imagined.

Thanks for blogging by. It is always nice to meet new bloggy friends. I am glad all went well with your little one. It is scary to giv'em up for surgery when they are that little. My Colin had to have surgery when he was 23 months old and I cried when they took him from my arms. Praying for a safe night and that tomorrow is well also!

Yes, they had some serious bed-head going on. They weren't going to go with us but things changed around 9 the night before. That morning they really didn't take the time to brush their hair. Teeth yes, hair no.
H2 is also the one that wants to grow his hair longer. "I'll take care of it mom! I'll brush it". Speaking of which, I believe he's due for another hair cut.
