I feel so bad for not getting to the blog more often. Life is really busy, and when I get the chance to read other blogs, it's the same there too. I guess it's that time of the year where it's nice outside and everyone wants to spend more time outside and being active. Well, we have been active, but not outside so much. Let's just say, I don't want to hear words or stress of a drought from ANYONE in this area.
It was raining yesterday, which was no surprise, but H2 and H3 decided to go out and ride scooters anyway. H2 comes hopping inside, literally, and had the look of pain on his face. I got him to sit down for a moment while I figured out what happened and how. All I knew at the time was he hurt his ankle. Once I looked down at it I could see the blood. So as he is sitting down I noticed it looked a bit darker than a usual 'cut' or 'scrape'. As we propped it up, I knew that we would be making a trip to the Emergency Room. I called HumV and explained it to him (he's hundreds of miles away, what was he going to do?), he suggested the ER also just from me describing it. Just as I thought. It happened right at dinner time, and it was pouring down rain. Poor H2. I loaded up the diaper bag with snacks and checked my inventory of diapers in the bag. Loaded all the kids up and off we went.
It's never easy to see your child in pain. H2 can control his pain levels really well too. He did good until they came in to numb it. OUCH!! H1 couldn't stand the thought of what they were doing so she didn't watch, neither did H3. H4 was hanging out in his stroller with snacks and didn't really care what was going on. I couldn't stop the tears, once H2 let loose, I couldn't hold back either. Thankfully they had a nurse and a doctor come in to do the numbing, one to hold and one to do the shots. I believe they gave him approximately 3-4 at least, I couldn't handle watching at times. Poor H2. I do have to say, we hadn't been in that room yet, so it was almost like a new experience.
Turns out they gave H2 2 sutures and all was good. I asked about what to do in 10 days when they needed to come out because we were going to be out of town for about a month. I knew, but we weren't going to be home so was just curious about where they would say to take him. She totally surprised me with the response of, "I'll just give you a removal kit and you can do it yourself." Um, excuse me? Not quite the answer I was looking for. Poor H2.
As we were waiting to go back to a room in the ER, H1 and H2 were comparing injuries. H1 says, 'well, my foot was fractured'. H2 says, 'well, my thumb was, and my wrist, and I've had stitches'. H1 had nothing after that. Oh, and everytime she decided that she would call him a baby or tell him to get over it or whatever, (she's his sister what do you expect? I hope for more, but know better) all I have to do it explain in detail how and where they gave him the numbing medicine. Makes her stomach turn everytime and quiets her down.

This morning we woke up, earlier than usual, for doctor appointments. Every one's okay this time. Just check-ups/physicals. H1 went in for her physical for school. She is in the 91% range for her height. She's doing great! She had a shot in each arm and goes back in a couple of months to get 2 more shots. Her arms are a bit sore, one has been for most of the day and it wasn't her tetanus arm. However, her tetanus arm is starting to get a bit sore now. She was quite the trooper though.
H4 is doing well also. He has slowed down a bit on his growing as far as the dr charts go. He had a shot in each leg and was feeling it this evening. I love holding and rocking him when he needs it, and most of the afternoon was like that. Ahh, it was nice, not him being in pain though. He was almost a sleep before I could even get his jammies on him. I gave him some pain medicine and rocked him to sleep.
Tomorrow we may head over to my dad's. Depends on how everyone is feeling. I really need to pack and get stuff ready to leave, considering the rest of our week just gets busier. It will all get done. H2 and H3 aren't looking forward to going for their physicals on Friday! Not when 2 went in today and both came out with shots!
