Weekly Re-cap

I haven't been updating the blog that often and I apologize for that. I will attempt to do a "quick" (but long I'm sure) re-cap of our week.

Tuesday was an exciting day! We had to load up and go to a local (larger) town so that I could go to the doctor. Everything is fine. I have a Triangular FibroCartilage Complex Injury. Basically, my wrist hurts, but the way he put it made it sound so fancy, huh? It has been hurting for about 3 weeks now and a lot of movements that I need have been limited or hurt like heck when I do them (like picking up H4, changing diapers, turning door knobs, ya know important stuff that I HAVE to do). So doc checked it out and REALLY wanted to put my hand/wrist in a cast but because of life, he opted not too. THANK YOU DOC!! He did put it in a (removable) splint and told me that I have to wear it day and night for 3 weeks. Only to take it off in the shower and somewhat exercise my wrist. Other than that, limit my use of my wrist. He also gave me some steroid pills and sent me on my way. See ya in 3 weeks.

See my splint. . .

OOPS, I mean, see my splint. . .

On our way home, not even a block away from the doctor's office, we were stopped at a stop light at a very busy intersection in the middle of this town/city. To skip a few steps and attempt to make the story a bit shorter, there was a momma duck and about 9 baby ducks crossing a 4 lane highway, right at this intersection!!!! Um, this isn't going to turn out well if we don't help them! I was watching as traffic drove past them not paying any attention to them. The momma and about 3 baby's were able to jump up onto the median and cross the other 2 lanes safely to the grass. But there were 6 that weren't able to jump the median and the more cars that went by the more nervous they got. I didn't know what to do, (can you call 911 about this type of thing?) but I knew that I couldn't just leave them on this highway. I pulled over into the closest parking lot (not along the highway, my boys were with me, safety first for my babies). As I reached to open the door and step out there was a school bus that stopped right in the middle of the highway, blocking 1 of 2 lanes. The poor baby ducks were so scared at this point they were running all over and crying for their momma. Right after a lady got off of the bus, a man in a pick-up truck stopped beside the bus and blocked the other lane. There were 3 of us adults in the middle of this highway, in the middle of this town/city, almost in the middle of the intersection at a busy time of day trying to catch 6 baby ducks and return them safely (all of them) to their momma. Yes, it was quite the site. We laughed and laughed as we played in the road. We were able to catch them and put them safely in a gift bag until we had all of them. After about 10 minutes of blocking traffic, we were able to get the 3 remaining baby ducks into a parking lot and "trap" them under a delivery truck. And with 1 baby to go that had climbed in between the 2 tires of this truck, I lied down on the ground and reached my hand in between the tires to help the duck into the helping man's hands. It was quite the adventure, and I am SO happy and excited to say that ALL baby ducks were reunited with their momma safe and sound. Oh yes, and traffic was back to normal.

These are not the actual ducks from the highway, these are ducks that my sister bought for my grandpa. The ducks from the highway were a lot smaller than these in the picture and they are with their momma. :) But I wanted to show you how cute and small they were. That night, we baked some chocolate chip cookies and shared them with our wonderful friends and neighbors, The Young's. After eating as many cookies as we could handle a few cookies, we headed off to bed.

Wednesday morning brought some more interesting and fun adventures. H1 got up a few minutes late, so she missed the bus. As she was getting ready, I packaged up some cookies (did I mention I made 3 batches?) to share with H1's school teacher (who later I found out is on a strict diet, but she ate a few anyway out of kindness. Thank you Mrs. C for having a couple as well as sharing with a few classmates).

I also packaged up some for a friend. This friend and I (as well as many others) Twitter, Facebook, Farm Town (a Facebook game that is very addicting fun), text, voice chat and blog. But we have never met in person, face to face. Now, for most people it's not really surprising. I follow a lot of blogs to where I haven't met the owner of the blog, and I Twitter with people that I have never met face to face. No big deal, right? Well, this wonderful woman lives just about 5 minutes from me. Weird?! AND, she is the sister to another one of my wonderful friends, Keli (have I mentioned her name before? Maybe just once or twice?). So, right after I dropped H1 off at school, I gave Sheli a call to see if she was up. Now, Sheli has been on bed rest I believe since February. PLEASE read her story on her blog, talk about A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!! She is a lot of fun to chat with and play with on Farm Town. Hehe. She's wonderful.

I wasn't for sure where exactly she lived, but I knew the road that she lived on. So we went for a ride. I was chatting with her and after traveling the entire road (and turning around to do it again) and not really knowing where I was going or better yet, what house I was looking for, I told her that I was just going to pull into this driveway until I can figure out where it is that she lives. She then asks, "Is your vehicle a gold colored SUV?" Uh, yes. "You're turning right into my driveway, I can see you". Cool! Finally, I met this wonderful woman, face to face. She greeted me with a warm hug and snatched the cookies right out of my hands thanked me for the cookies (hehe, love ya Sheli!). We chatted for a few minutes as if we had known each other forever. She is such a wonderful woman of God and I am thankful for her and her sister very much.

It rained for most of the day, and H1's track meet ended up getting cancelled. SO, that gave us the chance to go and get supplies for her social studies project. It took a couple of hours, yes hours, and 2 different stores, but we got it all.

We stopped by Taco Bell on our way home. I made a promise on this day, after visiting this Taco Bell establishment that I would NEVER go to this particular one EVER again. And I have NO problem sticking to that. It's not every day that you get yelled at in Spanish by a Mexican man, in a customer service establishment. It's not everyday that as you're getting yelled at (not directly to my face), you drift off into a day dream and pretend that you are jumping over the counter walking calmly to the kitchen and ever so "gently" smack the face of that person to snap him out of whatever fit he is in. It's one thing if he would have been doing it in a language that I could understand, but really??? Needless to say, that particular establishment was severely lacking customer service. And they still didn't get our order right, even after the gentleman got mad, just sayin.

Once we arrived home it was craziness of getting everyone settled in. H1 jumped right in on getting her project started, and a creative one at that! She was excited, I was excited that she was excited! On to getting everything else on my long list of stuff situated. It turned out to be a very (to say the least) crazy evening. And finally around midnight we called it a day.

Thursday. . .H1 had stayed up rather late (til midnight) on Wednesday night because she was working her school project. So I let her we accidentally slept in on Thursday morning. We didn't get up and out of bed until around 8, oops!! After she was ready she actually took the time to eat breakfast! After signing her in at school I had noticed that there were at least 3 or 4 other kids that had put down "overslept" in the 'reason' box. Hehe, it's that time of the year I guess.

And if you would like to know how the rest of our Thursday went, please read the previous post. It was F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S!!!! We had a wonderful surprise mid morning!!

That leads us to today. What will today bring? H4 and I can mark dancing the morning away in the family room off of our list, or perhaps put it back down to do again in the afternoon. I am hoping for a clean house!! I have a lot of stuff to go through. There's a lady on the other side of our neighborhood that is accepting donations of stuff for her charity yard sale. Her sister was diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma at the age of 32. With early detection, she is currently cancer free! How awesome! So, to help the cause they are doing a charity yard sale. How cool!!! I have plans this weekend of going through everything (cleaning out our garage and our upstairs of all the stuff that we were going to take to goodwill because we didn't have time to do our own garage sale) and donating it to her for that wonderful cause. Wish them luck in raising a lot to help out!

FINALLY catching up on blogs. You have had a very busy and eventful week! My goodness, where did you find time to breath between the cookie baking and duckling rescue?

And you are absolutely correct that I grabbed the cookies from your hand. You just failed to mention that you tried to hold on to them for dear life. :) BTW, I had 1, let me repeat 1 cookie from that entire plate! Thank you very much family members who do not know how to share!
